SUS WON

SUS WON (b. 1984) is a Brooklyn-based artist who operates under a pseudonym to keep his identity unknown. SUS WON is known for his dynamic exploration of nostalgia and history through a unique lens. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he has exhibited his work across the United States, Ireland, and the UK. His artistic practice is deeply influenced by his background in graffiti and street art, which informs the playful and illustrative style of his work.

Through residencies at the National Sculpture Factory and Metheil Mara in Ireland, as well as Gallery eLL in NYC, SUS WON delves into themes of memory, appropriation, and the passage of time, using material and process-based experimentation to evoke a sense of uneasy fun.

Utilizing a blend of contemporary techniques, such as digital printing and spray painting, alongside traditional oil methods like grisaille, glazing, and varnishing, the work hovers between modernity and a distant past.
